Steamed Mustard Fish Or Bapa Sarsoe Maach as the Bengalis call it . Its a traditional dish, and very popular ! Easy to make and delicious ! Usually prepared with Hilsa fish, but i have made it with Basa , Salmon and Cod also Β be used !

recipe 🐠
Basa fish …. 200 gms, cut into pieces
Yellow mustard .. 3 tbsp Β do not add more if eating first time then reduce it , its hot and can cause burning sensation in the throat !Β 
Turmeric pwd.. 1 teasp
Coconut milk .. 1 cup or more as per taste.
Cumin seed..2 teasp
Green chillies ..2Β 
Salt mas per taste and Β red chilli pwd.. 1/4 th teasp
Mustard oil ..1 teasp
Green corinder choppedΒ 
Β Β 
Rub the turmeric, red chilli pwd, oil a teasp and salt into the fish. U can add lil lime juice too if u want .marinate for an hour atleast!Β 
Soak the mustard seeds in water for 1/2 hr or more .
Grind to paste, mustard seeds, cumin seeds , salt and green should be a smooth paste , add water if required.
Add this to the coconut milk, mix it .Β 
There are different ways of steaming this.Β 
In iddli cooker, put pieces and the mustard mixture over it and steam .15 mts.
Or put the fish pieces in a steel Β tiffin box, and pour the mustard mixture over it. Cover it with the lid and put in a vessel with boiling water.cook for 20 mts!Β 
Bake at 200 c for 15 mts.
I just put everything in a kadai, covered it cooked for 20 mts, add lil more coconut milk, and Turmeric if required! U can also add another teaspoon of mustard oil if u like.Β 
Serve hot with boiled rice.
